Das Jako Quartet ist das neue Projekt des in Berlin lebenden griechischen Gitarristen Iakovos „Jako“ Symeonidis. Aufbauend auf seinem Debütalbum „Safe Place“ konzentriert sich die Gruppe auf eigene Musik, die Jazz, Soul und Funk miteinander verbindet.

Ihr neues Album „Everything In Between“, umfasst neun Titel – größtenteils Eigenkompositionen von Symeonidis, geprägt von seinen Erfahrungen als griechischer Immigrant im Ausland. Neben den neuen Kompositionen beinhaltet das Repertoire des Quartetts Stücke aus der Jazztradition sowie Symeonidis’ eigene Arrangements klassischer Funk- und Soul-Songs.

Ihr Sound vereint Swing-, Afro- und Funk-Grooves mit Improvisation und Spontaneität.

Im Kern geht es bei „Everything In Between“ um das Leben im Augenblick. Die Musik lebt von Spontaneität und Interaktion und lässt jedem Stück Raum zum Atmen und Entfalten. Sie ist im Kern Jazz, aber offen und zugänglich – und lädt Hörer aus der Jazzwelt und darüber hinaus ein.

The Jako Quartet is the new project of Berlin-based Greek guitarist Iakovos „Jako“ Symeonidis. Building on his debut album „Safe Place,“ the group focuses on original music that blends jazz, soul, and funk. Their new album, „Everything In Between,“ features nine tracks—mostly original compositions by Symeonidis, influenced by his experiences as a Greek immigrant abroad. In addition to the new compositions, the quartet’s repertoire includes pieces from the jazz tradition as well as Symeonidis‘ own arrangements of classic funk and soul songs.

Their sound blends swing, Afro, and funk grooves with improvisation and spontaneity.

At its core, „Everything In Between“ is about living in the moment. The music thrives on spontaneity and interaction, giving each piece room to breathe and unfold. It’s jazz at its core, but open and accessible – inviting listeners from the jazz world and beyond.
